About Dionysus
Dionysus is the god of wine, celebration, ecstasy, and theater. He represents the joy of release from inhibitions and the power of authentic expression. Born twice—first from Zeus's thigh, then reborn from Semele—he embodies transformation and the breaking of boundaries.
In Mythology
Dionysus was born to Zeus and the mortal Semele. After Semele was consumed by Zeus's lightning, he carried the unborn Dionysus in his thigh until birth. Dionysus traveled widely, teaching the art of winemaking and liberating people from their cares. His followers, the Maenads, celebrated with wild dances.
