About Hephaestus
Hephaestus is the god of fire, the forge, and craftsmanship. Though cast from Olympus due to his lameness, he returned as the master craftsman who created magnificent weapons, armor, and automatons. He teaches that perfection is not required for greatness, and that broken things can be reshaped into something beautiful.
In Mythology
Hephaestus was born lame and thrown from Olympus by his mother Hera. He built his workshop beneath a volcano, where he crafted treasures for the gods. His creations include Achilles' armor, the chariot of the sun, and the first woman, Pandora.
